About the artist
2 September, 2024
Robert du Nord lives and works around Ann Arbor, Michigan USA, as a scientist, artist, traveler, and a human being curious about life. His artistic background developed through workshops, critiques, self-study and exploration. Artistic production is two-dimensional work, mostly drawings (pencil, charcoal and pastel) and oil painting, on linen and rigid surfaces. He has done real-time action drawing of arts performances.
RdN has been doing a series of 12x12 oil portraits of local people. In return for time sitting, RdN gives the subject a full size giclée print of the finished portrait.
RdN admires and enjoys the work of many artists. A list would vary with time and mood, but may include Titian, Dürer, Vigée le Brun, Sargent, Mitchell, Gentlleschi, Herriman, Klee, Wyeth, Picasso, Matisse, Degas, Crumb, Barry, Wood, Rauschenberg, Johns, Ingres, Rubens, Delacroix, Duveneck, de Boulogne, Olowe of Ise, Brueghel, Traylor, Rembrandt, Sorolla.
